We have answers.
Will I still have a job?
Often, reasons behind the prior grantee’s responsibility for the program ceasing are not a result of staff performance. In most circumstances, CDI HS wants to offer staff an opportunity to continue the exemplary services that are being provided. In the majority of our programs a CDI HS representative comes onsite to speak directly with staff about opportunities for employment. An offer of employment is not promised nor is it guaranteed. If offered employment, it is your choice whether or not to accept the offer; this is not automatic. There are some circumstances under which CDI HS needs to advertise a position rather than offering employment to the individual previously in that position. Can I apply for a different job?No. When CDI HS offers employment during the initial transition from the prior grantee, staff are eligible to apply only for the same position they currently hold. This transition is not an opportunity for staff to request a promotion or a change in responsibility. Will I receive the same pay and benefits?CDI HS requests personnel information from the prior grantee, this includes a report on wages and benefits offered. Our goal is to keep as much the same as possible. The majority of staff offered employment by CDI HS will be offered an initial hourly rate or salary commensurate with what was paid by the prior grantee; some immediate changes may be made for staff receiving a rate of pay noticeably different than what our Head Start experience tells us is acceptable for someone performing certain responsibilities. Early in CDI HS’s administration of a program the salary scale is reviewed for equity and comparability in the local community; changes in wages may be made at this time for the reasons stated above. CDI HS will offer a group health insurance plan that is very likely to be different than what was offered by the prior grantee. Efforts are made to keep the plans similar with comparable requirements for the employee’s financial contribution and work hours for eligibility. Who will be my supervisor? Will the organizational structure stay the same?Initially, CDI HS typically keeps the organizational structure and lines of supervision the same as what was instated by the prior grantee. Upon offer of employment each CDI HS employee will receive a temporary organizational chart showing Head Start positions and supervisors for each position. Early in our administration of the program this structure is evaluated to ensure design is sufficient for optimal program operations. Sometimes the organizational chart is amended to meet the needs of the program based on the size and scope of program and to meet the budget.
