Who We Are
Community Development Institute (CDI) is a nonprofit partner dedicated to strengthening community-based systems that serve children and families. We combine hands‑on experience with strategic expertise, enabling us to support organizations not only in planning for the future, but in delivering results in real‑world conditions where continuity and accountability matter.
What We Do
CDI partners with organizations and systems to strengthen leadership, build organizational capacity, and support effective service delivery in communities within systems that serve children and families. CDI’s expertise spans early childhood systems, food and nutrition programs, facilities and physical infrastructure, and systems undergoing change.
Why We Do It
CDI was founded on the belief that strong communities create opportunities for children and families to succeed. From the beginning, our purpose has been to strengthen local capacity, combat poverty, and nurture human potential through well-designed systems and effective leadership. That belief continues to guide our work today.
Reach and Impact
CDI partners with state and local agencies on impactful projects that draw on our expertise in early childhood facilities, nutrition, quality improvement, and other areas that strengthen programs and systems.
